2025 JAMB GLITCH SHOCKER: JAMB REGISTRAR BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS AS 2025 UTME GLITCH FORCES NEARLY 380,000 STUDENTS TO RETAKE EXAMS…

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) remarked, “Man proposes, God disposes,” in reference to the unforeseen technical glitch that marred the 2025 UTME in 157 centres across the country.
According to JAMB, a major technical glitch has rocked the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), casting a shadow over the fate of thousands of candidates. According to official reports, 157 out of the 887 examination centres nationwide were affected by system failures, which significantly disrupted the performance of candidates in those locations.
The issue stemmed from a faulty software patch intended to shuffle answer options, which was not correctly applied on all delivery servers. This oversight disrupted the uploading of candidates’ responses during the initial days of the UTME, particularly affecting centres in Lagos and the South-East zones
During a press conference in Abuja, JAMB Registrar Professor Is-haq Oloyede became visibly emotional, taking full responsibility for the mishap and offering a heartfelt apology to the affected candidates. He emphasized the board’s commitment to transparency and fairness, assuring that corrective measures are being implemented to prevent future occurrences. In a move to rectify the issue and ensure fairness, JAMB has announced that all affected candidates will be contacted and required to reprint their examination slips in preparation for a retake of the examination. The rescheduled exams are set to commence on May 16th, 2025.
This development has sparked widespread reactions online, with many praising the board’s transparency, while others question the reliability of the computer-based testing system used for the UTME.
As the saga unfolds, all eyes remain on JAMB to ensure a seamless retake process and uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s tertiary admission system.
