UNN’s Grand Milestone: 12,526 Scholars Graduate with Degrees and Diplomas at the 52nd Convocation Ceremony!

The 52nd convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria Nsukka was yet another happy milestone in the development of the great citadel whose purpose was for the conferment of the first degrees and diplomas of UNN on the graduands of the 2021/2022 graduation Class.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Charles Arizechukwu Igwe, who made this known, congratulated the graduands who earned the degrees and diplomas of the UNN at the convocation on 11th May, 2024 at Margaret Ekpo Convocation Arena.

He further felicitated with the members of the graduands’ families, who share in their joy for their achievements, especially the parents who bore the burden of sustaining them when they were in the University.

Prof. Igwe also took advantage of the convocation to appreciate and celebrate the staff, including the teaching and non-teaching staff who continued to go the extra mile to ensure the successful completion of another academic cycle. Among others, their job included ensuring that the graduands were equipped with the knowledge and skills, including entrepreneurial and digital skills which they needed to compete and succeed in the rapidly changing world of today.

The breakdown of the bachelors degree according to Prof. Igwe showed that a total of 12,526 first degree graduates of the university convoked at the Institution’s 52nd Convocation Ceremony. This represented an increase of 1,834 graduands compared to the graduation figures of the 51st convocation.

Further breakdown include, 252 graduands earned the First Class (Honours) Degrees, while 4,834 graduands were conferred with the Second Class Honours (Upper Division) Degrees of UNN.

The Second Class Honours (Lower Division) Degrees were awarded to 5,883 graduands while 747 graduands earned the Third Class Degrees.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, 25 persons earned a Pass Degree of the University./

The Vice Chancellor pointed out that Unclassified Degrees of 746 were awarded to graduates of such courses as Medicine, Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine, which are not usually classified into first, Second or third class”.
