JOSHUA MAKES THE CHOICE TO WORSHIP THE LIVING GOD: “WORSHIP THE LORD OBEY HIM AND ALWAYS BE FAITHFUL TO THE LIVING GOD”
1 min readThe only thing that has moral values, and which helps us to grow is what is freely done. Without freedom, no moral evil is possible and no virtue is possible either.
Virtue is when we have a choice to do good or evil and we choose to do good. Virtue can’t be imposed, it has to be freely chosen.
The First reading of today presents to the Israelites the freedom to chose the God they are to serve. And Joshua and his family made the choice of serving the living God.
The Israelites made their choice after Joshua’s choice though out of their own free will. Joshua never forced them as akin to the Gospel where Christ too left his followers with a choice either to stay with him or to leave. Some left but his disciples stayed back because he alone has the message of eternal life.
My dearly beloved, we too are presented with the same freedom to choose either to stay with Christ in the Holy Eucharist and him alone or we make a choice of another alternative but bear it in mind that either of the choices has its own consequences.
I pray God to give you the grace to make the right choice like Joshua and the apostles of Christ, to remain with the true and undivided Trinity through Christ Our Lord Amen!
