FAITH IS NOT A COMFORTING ILLUSION THAT ALL IS WELL

Today’s readings center on confronting our fears with faith. The word fear appeared 366 times in the Bible to tell us the importance of this part of human experience.
Jeremiah lived with fear in the midst of his enemies but maintained his faith in God.
Christ urged his disciples to fear not he who kills only the body but fear he who kills both body and soul to hell.
Faith is not a comforting illusion that all is well. Rather, it means to know that life is full of risk and insecurity and yet to rejoice in it.
The feeling that someone is watching you is not a pleasant one but the feeling that someone is watching over you is a faith- based dependent feeling.
My dear beloved, no matter how insecure the society thrusts us with fear of insecurity, harsh economic policies and betrayals from close allies, let us have a faith-based feeling that someone is WATCHING OVER US!
