WHEN WE REFUSE TO FORGIVE WE BREAK DOWN THE BRIDGE OVER WHICH WE OURSELVES MUST PASS

1 min read

Forgiveness is like a temple where the wronged is freed of the burden in his heart.

To forgive is first and foremost a duty we owe ourselves. We forgive for the sake of our well being. We forgive to cleanse ourselves of poisonous attitudes and states of mind, so that we may be able to devote all our energies to loving, which is the only activity that befits a Christian.

When we refuse to forgive we break down the bridge over which we ourselves must pass.

Forgiveness also benefits the person who is forgiven because it sets the person free to walk in friendship with God and with the person he has offended.

Finally, forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting the wrong done to us rather it means remembering and letting go. There is a saying ” The stupid neither forgives nor forgets, the naive forgives and forgets but the wise forgives but do not forget. Therefore, be wise while forgiving your offender.

We have obligation to forgive those who offended us but we also have greater obligation to ask for forgiveness of those we have offended. The former can be very hard but the later can be even harder. It can take great courage to ask for forgiveness.

Happy Sunday dearest in the Lord! Fadafido Cares!
