Today’s reading is all about God’s generosity towards we sinners.
Some people can’t bear to see others get things easier than themselves. According to this mentality you get what you earn. If you have not earned anything, then you don’t deserve to get anything. In this kind of world there is no room for grace.
Grace is favour extended to undeserving people as a gift. The owner of the vineyard is God himself who in His magnanimity has extended his generosity to we sinners and the gentiles.
The earlier labourers are the self righteous ones that sees God’s kingdom as their entitlement. There are also so many unmerited favours we do receive from God in spite of our unworthiness before God. If you have witnessed such unmerited grace and generosity from God, then treat people on their basis of needs not on deserving or merit based.
