A QUEST FOR MORE

By Marilyn Ossai
I sent my soul on a journey
A journey in search of the truth
To clear my doubts about living
A truth which only me should know
— — — — —
A decade had passed, and yet it’s not back
I’ve waited and have lost hope
I really need it to return with answers
Answers that would shape my remaining existence
— — — — —
I’m a bit confused. No! Completely confused
What do I stand to gain from it all?
Treading a certain path to keep my hands clean –
But has it done me any good yet?
— — — — —
Should I just let it loose and live as I please?
Who knows if there will be any judgment at the end?
The thought of it all worries me greatly
That’s why I sent my soul on a journey
— — — — —
Alas! It’s back – what a long wait!
What answers have you got? I asked
It came close and whispered in my ears
I, myself, am heaven and hell.
