A TEST QUESTION TO ALL OF US: WHO IS ACTUALLY OUR NEIGHBOUR?
Our neighbour is anyone, regardless of class, colour, race or creed who needs our help.
Christian charity knows no bounds and oversteps all man-made limits. Today’s story of the good Samaritan revealed much about the character of the three personalities. Both the priest and the Levi were too selfish with their priestly role and rituals, but the good Samaritan was a very caring person. The two asked, “What will happen to my state if I touch a dead body?”
However, the Samaritan reversed the question to ask,”What will happen to him if I don’t help him?”. He was truly compassionate, which others lacked. Life is continually testing us. Every day, we are tested in little ways of kindness, care, or love to others. The extent of our virtue is determined, not by what we do in extraordinary circumstances but by our normal behavior.
I pray God to give us the grace to always be the “Good Samaritan” to the needy without failing the test of our true character like the Levi and the priest.
