JUNE TUNE

In the unfolding bowels of each month are contrasting possibilities

To reap your dreams, there’s a duty to approach each with sensibilities

It’s often tough for those with little or no financial sanctuary;

Many forget that after every December comes January.

Some contend with emotions triggered by a confluence of suckers —

Huge monetary drains, turning hardship into a menacing time-stretcher.

Like it would never really end — it uncannily seems;

The clock stands still for the ill-prepared, haunting their dreams.

Hounding and haranguing dilate as weeks totter and stall;

Minutes feel like hours, and days seem endlessly tall.

For some, it’s as destabilizing as withdrawal from a drug —

A psychoactive syndrome spun by bills that tug and shrug.

Daunting demands arise, chief among them: school fees due —

A burden most amplified in salaried circles too.

Even professionals aren’t spared this post-December dreads;

January looms like a guillotine above many heads.

But truly, the year’s maiden month should shock no one;

It’s time to unlearn this anxiety that leaves us undone.

Perhaps schools could defer their full fees till mid-month;

Employers might split December pay to soften the punch.

Having survived, we look to a friendly & freer February —

A launchpad, we hope, to a merrymaking March.

And so we dance through appeasing & appealing April,

Then hold out for much mirthsomeness again in May.

Let juicy June find us primed, not panicked;

Then jauntiness may bloom in jubilant July.

May fortunes augur well for all come succeeding August,

So we can sail through a setback-severed September.

Do well to let your planning attain high octane by October,

To preserve your balance come nimble & needling November.

And in December — may decency and measured modesty reign;

So we may never endure another jaded & jittery January again.

Planning, with a touch of serendipity, is a virtue to crave;

Enjoy the ticking times — but always remember to save.

Certainly not easy in this scorching era, but try, you ought

Reserve right regards for your health, lest everything comes to naught

Unfettered vitality amplifies the prospects of seeing June’s end

Wishing that when July sprouts, you’ll have enough to lend
