MAY WE ALWAYS BRING JOY AND NOT SORROW.
1 min readIn today’s gospel Jesus wept over Jerusalem because of the unrighteous lives of her inhabitants. Their way of life contrasted with the zeal for keeping the law shown by Mattathias and his sons in the first reading. They rejected all enticements of power and wealth and stood firm in obeying the laws of the Lord (2 Maccabees 2:15-29)
Each day, we too are faced with many enticements seeking to move us away from the path of righteousness.
Dear friends, let us imitate Mattathias and his sons and endeavor to stand firm knowing that what we lose in material benefit is regained in spiritual richness which draws us closer to God.
As we face God this morning, I pray that no action of yours today may cause tears to fall from another person’s cheek, because when a child of God weeps, God also weeps.
May we bring joy and not sorrows. Have a joy-full day.
