“Oh Adada sacred stream”
By Nkiruka Omeke
With a heart full of memories I walk down the path
Leading me to your soothing waves
I reach the shores with serene caution
And gazed upon as I once did in my youth
Oh sweet nostalgia
A remarkable sight of children diving into your riverbed
Mothers by the side indulging in various activities and
Fathers standing guard to watch their children with elation,
Of the safety you bring.
You receive everyone cooly
Adada, a symbolic river shrouded by mystery
The depletion of your mysterious riverbeds still hides the secrets of your depths
You know when to give and when to withhold
Oh sacred stream
Bubbling from the fullness of gentle waves
Here I stand ashore as I once did in my youth
Looking on in admiration at the little boys.
Like an ancient vestige
You have remained an indelible landmark
One with rich historic sequence
A legendary interest to be passed down to generations.
