President Tinubu Appoints Eugene Odo, Former Enugu Assembly Speaker as Member, UNN Governing Council

The President, Bola Ahamed Tinubu has appointed the Rt. Hon.Eugene Odo, former speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Mr. Muhammed Tahir, as governing council members of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
Odo, who was named the South East representative in a list of key appointments released on Tuesday by the Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, included Muhammed Tahir.
The appointments came as part of the President’s efforts to strengthen federal institutions for excellence and global competitiveness.
Rt. Hon.Odo served two-terms as speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, 2007 – 2015.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Stalwart also served under the previous administration of Muhammadu Buhari as a governing council member of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
Also appointed were the governing councils’ members of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka.
Onanuga said President Tinubu charged the new council members to justify their appointments by ensuring that their respective universities moved forward.
The Chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Council Dr. Eric Odo and Rtd.Gen. J.O.J. Okolagu have congratulated Rt. Hon.Odo on his meritorious appointment.
They described the appointment as a “well deserved recognition” of Odo’s steadfast commitment to public service and intellectual engagement.
They commended President Tinubu for what they called a “timely and thoughtful choice that reflected both merit and integrity”.
“His inclusion in the governing council is not only a personal achievement but a source of pride for Enugu State and the entire South East”, they said.
