Senator Okey Ezea’s free medical outreach takes off
2 min readSenator Okey Ezea has urged the people of Enugu North senatorial district to take advantage of his sponsored medical outreach to find solutions to their health problems.
The senator representing Enugu North in the National Assembly made the appeal at the flag-off of the medical outreach today/Tuesday at Ogbede Health Centre in Igbo-Etiti local government area of Enugu State.
A programme of activities released by Professor Augustine Uchenna Akubue, a health management consultant who heads the implementation team, shows that no fewer than 4,000 patients will benefit from the medical outreach in the six local government areas of Enugu North senatorial district, between July 30 and August 14, 2024, at designated places.
The medical outreach is Senator Ezea’s initiative meant to help mainly indigent patients in Enugu North who need medical care but cannot afford to seek a doctor’s service or pay their medical bills.
On each day between 9am and 4pm, the people will receive free consultations and treatments, free eye tests with correctional glasses, free lab tests or diagnosis, free drugs, and free health education.
Igbo-Etiti today/Tuesday took the first slot at the flag-off ceremony attended by hundreds of patients who expressed gratitude to Senator Ezea for his kind gesture.
Uzo-Uwani local government area follows on Thursday, Nkwo, August 1, at Sacred Heart Parish, Nkpologu.
For Nsukka local government area, the date is Saturday, Orie, August 3, and the venue is St. Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral podium.
On Tuesday, Eke, August 6, Igbo-Eze South local government area will take its turn at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ibagwa-Aka.
Igbo-Eze North local government area follows on Thursday, Afor, August 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ogrute, Enugu-Ezike.
On Saturday, Eke, August 10, the medical outreach moves to Udenu local government area, and the venue will be St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Obollo-Afor.
Patients who may need surgeries will also undergo treatments between August 12 and 14 at designated health centres.
