SUFFERING CAN PURIFY THE SOUL AND TRANSFORM THE CHARACTER

My dearest in Christ, take a second look at today’s second reading closely! Was Paul appraising suffering? Yes, you heard him right. Suffering should not be seen as punishment from God. God punishes no one. God allows sufferings, yes, but that is not the same as saying God causes it.
Suffering is an indispensable part of becoming human. It seems we can’t become people of depth and maturity without it. Suffering can purify the soul and transform the character. If suffering is required in the process of becoming human, it is all the more necessary in the process of becoming mature Christians.
My dear beloved, our trials and pains can bring us closer to God. In suffering we experience God’s power and love. When the storm gathers, when the tunnel suddenly becomes endless and when we are left at the middle of nowhere, lean on God, that same God who allowed you go through that torn-filled road will surely lift you up to safety and to light of joy and peace if you show commitment to God’s fidelity.
Happy Sunday as I pray God to aid you through that thorn that has challenged your faith in God!
