THE 2024 PARIS ‘SUMMER’ OLYMPICS WHICH IS ABOUT TO TAKE OFF IN A FEW HOURS HAS FACED A MAJOR DISRUPTION
1 min readThe 2024 Olympics which is about to take off has witness a setback by a news of an attack on train lines leading to Paris. According to a report monitored by the BBC News Network, the motive of the attackers are not yet known. However, it was described as a sabotage.
The report says about 800,000 commuters bound for the Olympics, who use High Speed Rail Lines to Paris were affected and are now stranded.
As a temporary measure, passengers have been informed of a delay or diversion which may extend their journey to over an hour and a half. Eurostar the major operator of the lines says 25 percent of trains have been cancelled.
In spite of all the assurances from the organizers, this is seen by analysts as a major disruption.
The first Olympic game or modern Olympics was said to have been founded in 1894 by French historian Pierre de Coubertin. However, the first edition is believed to have taken place in Athens in 1896.
