Female billionaire sentenced to death for looting Vietnam’s bank of $44bn

A 67-year-old Vietnamese billionaire identified as Truong My La Lan has been sentenced to death after carrying out one of the greatest bank frauds the world has ever seen. She defrauded one of the country’s largest banks of $44 billion over a period of 11 years.
Nigerians are reacting to the news differently. They feel pained that politicians are doing worse in Nigeria and going free. A Nigerian by the name Daniel Regha on X, says “Nigerian elites in government or those with connections will only be making headlines if/when caught looting. It’s from one court case to another, but here’s news of a female billionaire about to get capital punishment for looting billions. I an example was made with some political looters in Nigeria, corruption will significantly reduce”.
Another user gave his 2cents saying “If we conduct this kind of capital punishment on our corrupt politicians, looting and corruption will die a natural death. But we are even more far from enacting such law and the judges to interpret it are not in the right standing yet”.
