JULY ESSENTIALLY MEANS “THE MONTH OF JULIUS CAESAR” THE GREAT ROMAN EMPEROR

1 min read

Welcome to the month of July. The seventh month of the year that signals the half of the year. If we were able to cross the first six months of the year with its attendant difficulties and challenges definitely with the grace of God and resilience, we shall pull through the remaining part of the year.

As we step into the new month of July I pray for the spirit of courage and the grace of favours to sail through the turbulent economic impasse we are going through as a nation.

According to history, the name “July” comes from the Roman dictator Julius Caesar, who introduced the Julian calendar (a precursor to the modern Gregorian calendar) in 45 BCE. The month of July was previously called “Quintilis,” which means “the fifth month” in Latin, since it was the fifth month of the Roman calendar. However, after Julius Caesar’s era, the Roman Senate renamed the month “July” in his honor. So, the name “July” essentially means “the month of Julius Caesar.”

May this month smile at you more than the previous months IJN Amen! Remember me as I also participate in my annual canonical retreat for the year!
