“Here I am Oh Lord, I come to do your will. I give myself to you just as I am.”
….Sister Florence Nenna Okeh.

After Sister Okeh made the above statement before the alter of God, I then remembered this famous quote whose author was not mentioned. Thus; “my God, my body will rest in hope.” I surrender to God’s tender care for my body, my mind, my soul, and my whole life by relinquishing worry over things I cannot control because with the Lord, there is mercy and fullness of redemption, Israel indeed he will redeem from all its iniquity.”

It is yet another history made in Ndioke Ibagwa-Aka and indeed, humanity as Rev. Sister Florence Nnenna Okeh makes her final vow to devote her entire life to the service of almighty God.

Preaching a sermon to mark the occasion, the Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Father Bishop Godfrey Igwebuike Onah, noted that all of us are called to the service of God in different ways. He urged the friends and relations of the religious sisters to continue to support them to enable them carry out their duties with patience.

Over 12 priests and several Carmelite Reverend Sisters graced the occasion at the Catholic Cathedral Nsukka Also in their great numbers were members of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ibagwa-Aka, Sister Nnenna’s home parish.

As would be expected, celebration continued today, Sunday, 19th November 2023, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Ibagwa-Aka with a thanksgiving mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Mellitus Ezijanyi, the Parish Priest and a Carmelite Priest from Benuue State.

It was all joy as Sister Nnenna, followed by several other Sisters of the Carmelite Missionary Order danced their way to the alter to offer their gifts of Thanksgiving to the Lord.

It will be recalled that Sister Nnenna was educated at the University of Nigeria Nsukka and had her various other novitiate trainings in Spain and Tanzania. Yesterday’s ‘Final Profession’ brings to an end the many requirements for becoming a complete Reverend Sister.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Melitus Ezikanyi the host Priest was full of joy as the occasion was brought to an end having worked tirelessly for several months leading to this epoch making and historical occasion.

Very Rev.Fr. Aselem Omeje was also at the occasion with the Dean of St. Mary’s Catholic Deanery Ibagwa-Aka who had to leave earlier for other pressing engagement.
