PROF. MACHEBE BAGS DEPARTMENTAL AWARD FOR EFFICIENCY

The Head of Department of Animal Science, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Prof. Ndubuisi Samuel Machebe, JSPS, RAS, MNIAS has been conferred with an award for outstanding contributions to the Department.

Presenting the award on behalf of the Department during this year’s ‘Maiden Conference and Alumni Home-Coming 2024’, held at the Princess Alexandria Unity Hall and Theatre, UNN, on Friday, Mr. Raymond, Isiadinso, MNSAP, FASAN, FNIAS, FCASN, President, Animal Science Association of Nigeria, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, who doubled as the Chairman of the occasion, announced a donation of one million Naira for the upkeep of the Department. He said he is impressed with Prof. Machebe’s leadership capacity. The recipient, he continued, is someone that can be described as changing the leadership strategy, not only in the Department but in the whole of the University Community.

“Prof. Samuel Machebe is also one of the most hard working individuals I have ever met in this university and he is putting a lot of his experience and knowledge in the governance in the Department and recognises the impact that our coming together can make not only to the upgrading of the Department but on productivity and increase in economic activities in the department” he noted. “On behalf of the Department, I have the honour to present you with the efficiency award for 2024″, he said.

Speaking after receiving the award, Prof. Machebe described the award as an elixir to do more, describing Animal Science Department as the lifeblood of any economic development. He said, “as the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, I didn’t know that the members ambushed me to organize this award for me, now the ambush is clear. Let me, on behalf of myself and family, to whom I dedicate the award to, express our profound gratitude to the Department for recognising our modest effort in supporting the growth of the Department in our little ways,” he concluded.

Other awardees included Prof. Dr. Nwosu Chijioke Chinagoromu Christopher, Emeritus Prof. of UNN, Mr. Raymond Isiadinso, His Excellency, Prof. Placid Njoku, Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, in addition to all past Heads of Department which includes Prof. Ezekwe, Emeritus Prof. Dr. Chijioke Nwosu, Prof. Okeke, Prof. Simon Ugwu, Prof. Anselm Onyimonyi Esq, and Prof. Samuel Machebe.

The Keynote speaker was Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, OON, FAS, HFL, FNIAS, ASHF, NPL, D.SC (IT.C), former Executive Secretary, TETFUND, Abuja.

The Royal father of the Day was His Royal Highness, Igwe (Prof) Ikenna Omeje, the Eze Obule the II of Edem-Ani, Ibagwa-Aka Kingdom, retired Prof. of Animal Breeding and Genetics.

Present during the event were Mr. Egwuonwu Ndukwe, Chief Osita Omeje, Chief Sunday Omeke, Prince Charles Ogbobe, Prof. Harriet Ndofor-Foleng, among others.
