The fragility of the bond of marriage should make couple eager to seek God’s help. Marriage is a sacrament of love, which draws its strength from God, who is the source of love. God blesses the marriage bond and pledges the lifelong support of his grace in the sacrament of marriage.
Today’s readings teach us that indissoluble monogamy finds special justification in the special needs of children, who need to be nurtured and cared for over a much longer period of time than almost any member of the animal species.
