“THOUGH FATHER AND MOTHER FORSAKE ME, THE LORD WILL RECEIVE ME”
1 min readThe most painful and psychologically traumatic experience is the feeling of being forgotten especially in our moments of needs and challenges and our close allies keep a distance from us. That experience can kill.
The people of Israel in the time of Prophet Baruch felt the same sense of abandonment from God and were desolate and forlorn. However, the Prophet comes with a good news of God’s faithfulness and steadfast love over his people. Ps 27:10 makes it clear “Though father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me”.
Advent reminds us of God’s promises that came to reality in Christ. We seem to be experiencing what the Israelites experienced in the time of Prophet Baruch with the biting economic policies of the present administration but the message of Advent is that of hope and faith in God’s promise to his people.
We pray God to remember our country Nigeria as we too strive to remember those who contributed in one way or the other to what we are today but are currently facing challenges in life.
Advent is an excellent time to aim ourselves in the right direction and to commit ourselves to the right path. I pray God to take away the blindness from our eyes, the weakness from our wills and the hardness from our hearts so that our lives may be flooded by the grace of his coming.
Happy Sunday!
