HUMILITY BEFORE GOD IS THE KEY TO GOD’S FAVOURS AND BLESSINGS

The Pharisee entered the Temple with a false sense of his own virtue and left it with that same illusory state. The tax collector entered the Temple with a deep sense of his own sinfulness and left it with a profound sense of the goodness of God.

Beloved, the house of God is a house of prayer. We can not pray properly unless the heart is right. The heart of the Pharisee was not right. It was full of pride and egoism, whereas the heart of the tax collector was right, humble, open, and receptive. The danger of confessing the sins of others is that it prevents us from looking at our own sins and inadequacies. The sin of the Pharisee, among other things, is the sin of pride, which makes us forget the glory of God and the good of our neighbours.

Humility before God is the key to God’s favours and blessings.

Let us learn from the tax collector how to pray with the right disposition and humility before God.

Happy Sunday, dearest in Christ!
