IN EVERY STORM AND DISTRESS, THE PRESENCE OF JESUS WILL BRING PEACE
St. Francis de Sales one day noticed a girl carrying a pot of water. He also noticed that she put in a log of wood inside the pot. The saint asked her why do you put a piece of wood in the pot? She replied “To keep the water steady, to keep it from spilling. The saint remarked, “When our heart is distressed and agitated, put the cross into the centre of our heart, to keep it steady”.
In every storm and distress, the presence of Jesus will bring peace, serenity and calm as Peter and the apostles experienced today in the midst of a disruptive storm that bowed to Christ’s presence.
I pray that the presence of Christ in your life today either through the Sacrament or through his word will calm your troubled heart through Christ our Lord Amen!
Faith actually doesn’t prevent us from encountering trials and tribulations but it gives us the strength to cope with them. Faith assures us that we are not alone in our trials, God is with us. He reveals himself more in a calm and peaceful soul as Elijah’s experience made us understand in the first reading.
