THE GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD FOR THE SALVATION OF EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES

2 min read

St Paul in the first reading today told the Romans: “Brothers and sisters: I am not ashamed of the Gospel. It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for Jew first, and then Greek. For in it, is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith; as it is written, “The one who is righteous by faith will live.” (Rom 1:16-25). That the righteous shall live by faith resonates in both the Old and New Testaments (cf Hab 2:4; Gal 3:11; Heb 10:38).

In all these instances, the faithfulness of the righteous is contrasted with the pride or faithlessness of the ungodly, that is those who do not recognize the existence of the true God nor observe his commands. The observance of the will of God, as our Lord teaches in the gospel, must emanate from inside and not just mere external observances (Lk 11:37-41).

Dear friends, as we face God this morning, let us continue to affirm our faith in both words and actions. I pray that the power of God will manifest mightily in your life today and always. Have a power-full day.
